Atul Mathur

Co-Founder and Vice Chairperson of Devrai Art Village, Panchgani

Atul, the co-founder of Devrai Art Village, is a chartered accountant with over 20 years’ experience in consulting, software and advertising, plus over 28 years’ experience in coaching and in developing leaders, teams and organizations. He left Mumbai and the corporate world in 1997 as CEO of two of Grey Advertising India’s divisions, to settle down in Panchgani from where he now operates. He is also the founder of Outbound Management Consulting and is a senior executive coach and mentor. Passionate about gardening, the Devrai Forest Garden has grown under his care for the past 2 decades and is now a home to hundreds of species of plants and trees. He has also spent 3 years (1973 to 1976) attending the regular hobby class in drawing and painting at JJ School of Art.
  • Currently working on a documentary film on Varanasi titled “Materialising the Spiritual – Kashi”.
  • Masters in French (Specialization Literature) from JNU, M-Phil in Cinema Studies from Sorbonne, Paris (1989). Filmmaker focusing on environmental concerns, Indic culture, spirituality, and child- centric themes.
  • Notable works include “Looking for a God with River Krishna” (Documentary for Film Division, 2001), “Aapa-Akka” (Feature Film, 2010), and “River Goddess” (awarded at UGC-sponsored festival, 2008).
  • Author of two books: “Radha, Poems of Love” and “End Of The Circle,” with the latter adapted into a feature film script.
  • Produced English Teaching Audiovisual Resource material for marginalized communities and vernacular medium schools based on Indian tales so that they stay connected to their roots.
  • Playwright and director of over fifteen plays, addressing social issues through street and stage performances.
