Shrinathji – Enamel on Copper

33,000.00

Shrinathji in Nathdwara is given 8 different ‘Shringars’ everyday, i.e. he is dressed and beautified, treated as a living child, adorned with the appropriate dresses commensurate with the time of day or night. The Shringar shown in this enamel painting is the first one of the day – Mangla Swaroop, which depicts Lord Krishna waking up from his sleep with minimal ornaments and simple attire.
This piece features enamel work on copper, and the most striking feature is the use of transparency of enamel in Shrinathji’s attire. The lotuses in the foreground are also made of copper.

About the Technique: Enamelling is the process of fusing colored powdered glass with a base metal through firing. This irreversible technique demands precision at every step. While commonly used in jewelry and ornamental artifacts, at Devrai, we apply it to create paintings. This often involves multiple firings and layering of enamel to achieve the desired depth and colors.
