Nataraj is Lord Shiva’s form as the Lord of Dance, who dances the Tandava. One foot is raised for liberation, while the other crushes Apasmara, the demon of ignorance. And at Devrai, even the Nandi who has been sitting in a meditative pose for centuries pleads with Shiva, and joins him in his cosmic dance.
Here, the Nandi is made in stone and brass (Rock Dhokra) and Natraj is made fully in brass (Dhokra). They?re both dancing on a wooden pedestal.

About the Technique: Dhokra is an ancient form of metal art, also known as lost wax casting. The sculpture is made in wax first, a mould is made around it, and during casting the wax is replaced by brass, thus the name ‘lost wax casting’.
Rock Dhokra is an evolution of Dhokra. It is our patented process of fusing stone and brass using the lost wax technique of metal casting. This fusion with stone had never happened in the 5000-year old history of metal art. At Devrai, we have done this after excessive research and experimentation with various types of stones.
