This sculpture depicts Venugopal Krishna, the flute-playing form of Krishna, captured in a moment of gentle harmony with nature. Krishna?s flute is said to produce a divine music that transcends sound?an irresistible call that draws all beings toward him. Krishna is accompanied by a cow and calf?symbols of abundance and devotion.
Krishna is made of brass (Dhokra casting), while the cow and calf are made of stone and brass (Rock Dhokra process). The base is carved wood, with life-like parijat flowers painted on it.

About the Technique: Dhokra is an ancient form of metal art, also known as lost wax casting. The sculpture is made in wax first, a mould is made around it, and during casting the wax is replaced by brass, thus the name ‘lost wax casting’.
Rock Dhokra is an evolution of Dhokra. It is our patented process of fusing stone and brass using the lost wax technique of metal casting. This fusion with stone had never happened in the 5000-year old history of metal art. At Devrai, we have done this after excessive research and experimentation with various types of stones.
