Badami Shiva

88,000.00

This sculpture of Shiva is inspired from the icon in the Badami cave of Karnataka, symbolising him as the lord of dance and dramatic arts. It features Shiva with 18 hands, which represent Natya mudras from the Bharatnatyam dance form. The 18 hands result in 81 different dance poses. The cosmic wheel is represented by the geometric pattern of the arms.
The base is in Rock Dhokra, while the icon itself is in solid brass.

About the Technique: Rock Dhokra is our patented process of fusing stone and brass using the lost wax technique of metal casting. This fusion with stone had never happened in the 5000-year old history of metal art. At Devrai, we have done this after excessive research and experimentation with various types of stones.
