?They are not just tattoos, they are our ornaments which will go with us after death?
This sculpture, made in Rock-Dhokra, pays homage to the intricate Godna tattoos of the Baiga tribe from central India. The designs etched on various parts of her body narrate her journey through life, marking milestones such as puberty, marriage and motherhood. These tattoos, far beyond mere adornment are symbols and language of our culture.

About the Technique: Rock Dhokra is our patented process of fusing stone and brass using the lost wax technique of metal casting. This fusion with stone had never happened in the 5000-year old history of metal art. At Devrai, we have done this after excessive research and experimentation with various types of stones.
