During the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean by the Devas and Asuras), a poisonous Halahal emerged first, threatening to destroy all creation. Shiva drinks it and contains it in his throat, thus getting the name “Neelkanth” (Blue Throayed One).
The brass Om on this Molten Metal Painting is made by pouring liquid metal on the ground. The Devas and Asuras in the Samudra Manthan sculpture in the foreground are made of copper, with a brass and stone tortoise- Kurma Avatar.

About the Technique: The metal mural range is made using the molten brass poured on the ground to form abstract shapes. It is often a combination of these abstract shapes with some hand crafted or organic ones as an integral part of a painting on canvas. The painting is made using acrylic colours on canvas.
The tortoise is made using the Dhokra process- an ancient form of metal art, also known as lost wax casting in which the sculpture is made in wax first and the cast in metal. The snake is made with a copper sheet by skillfully shaping and creating intricate designs by hammering.
