Workshops at Devrai

We offer three standard workshops- Rock Dhokra Sculpture making, Jewellery Making, and Molten Metal Painting. There are no age limitations, and no pre-scheduled workshops. You can choose to do a workshop on any day, with a day’s advance notice. These are all customizable, you can make bigger or more number of pieces. We will help you bring your vision to life!
Group Workshops: We also have customized workshops for groups, particularly for students coming for an educational visit from all over the country! Do contact us directly with any special queries regarding workshops!

Rock Dhokra Workshop

Create your own unique sculpture in stone and brass using our patented Rock Dhokra process. The first stage of the process is to sculpt wax around a stone core, which is the part you will be learning. The rest of the casting process involves making a clay mould around your stone and wax piece and finally casting it in metal. Once the casting is done, which takes about 40 days, we will ship your sculpture to you.
  • Duration: Minimum 1 day for a sculpture upto 5 inches
  • Timings: 10:30 am to 5:30 pm
  • Cost: Rs 4500 per person (for one day, shipping charges not included)
*Please note that due to the inherent risks in the casting process, if your piece gets damaged, we do not offer a refund or replacement. Also, Rock Dhokra is our patented process, and you are not permitted to use this process for any commercial benefit.

Jewellery Making Workshop

Create your own jewellery pieces using any of our unique processes like Rock Dhokra, Pot Dhokra (Terracotta/Ceramic pieces fused with brass), and Organic Casting. The first stage of the process is to sculpt wax into the final shape that you want. The rest of the casting process involves making clay moulds around your wax pieces and finally casting them in metal. Once the casting is done, which takes about 40 days, we will ship your jewellery pieces to you.
  • Duration:  2.5 hours (total 3 jewellery pieces permitted)
  • Timings: 10:30 am to 1:00 pm or 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm
  • Cost: Rs 3500 per person (shipping charges not included)

Molten Metal Painting Workshop

Create your own painting on an A4 size framed canvas, incorporating elements of brass, both handcrafted and solidified molten brass. Choose the metal pieces from our available ones and our artists will help you in painting your vision on the canvas. You can take your painting along with you.
  • Duration: 2.5 hours
  • Timings: 10:30 am to 1:00 pm or 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm
  • Cost: Rs 4000 per person (includes all art materials)

Storytelling through Puppetry

A group storytelling through puppetry workshop at Devrai Art Village using Tumba puppets made at Devrai itself, where children create short skits with nature-inspired, folklore, and everyday characters. Builds language and communication skills, encourages empathy and imagination, and nurtures a close connection with nature and storytelling traditions.
  • Duration: Minimum 3 hours (has to be pre-scheduled, contact us to block your dates)
  • Minimum Group Size: 10 children (ages 8 to 18)
  • Cost: Rs 1000 per person

With prior notice, you can sign up to do a workshop whenever you like. Workshop duration is customisable – the more time you invest, the more you learn. You will be given a basic orientation and get to work alongside our artisans, who will guide you in your efforts. If you choose to do a longer workshop, you will be charged according to the number/size of pieces that you make.
Depending on availability, we may be able to offer accommodation for up to two people at our homestay (at extra cost). Check availability for homestay on Airbnb.
